AMSOIL Dual-Gard
By-Pass System
(BMK-12)

Why should you use an AMSOIL Dual-Gard
By-Pass System?
Absolute Protection from Engine Dirt
Assurance of Analytically Clean Oil
WHY ANOTHER FILTER? Even the best full
flow-filter can't do it all.
Your full flow filter must allow oil to pass
through it quickly to keep the engine from starving for oil. Because of this
they can only filter out wear
particles down to the 20-25 micron range (a human hair is 100 microns).
Their relief valves open when the engines demand for lubrication can't be
ignored, allowing dirty unfiltered oil to circulate in your engine.
A study
completed by Federal Mogul Corp. analyzing over 7000 main and connecting rod
bearings concluded that
60% of all engine wear occurs in the 5-20 micron
range.
These microscopic particles closely match the
precision clearances between critical engine components such as bearings and rings.
This is why
no matter how much you change your current oil and filter, you still are not
removing the particles that cause the greatest wear in your engine.
Automobile engines are also susceptible to water formation
damage, either from blowby or condensation. This
produces corrosive acids that attack the engine, contributing to further
friction, wear, debris, and oil degradation.
The AMSOIL
Solution- By-Pass Filtration
Unlike a full-flow filter, the AMSOIL By-Pass
Filter is situated outside of the main line of oil circulation;
it taps into the line to bleed off and clean only a portion of the
oil at a time.
You still need
a full-flow filter, of course, because oil must circulate continuously. But with
an AMSOIL By-Pass Filter drawing 10% of your system's capacity,
all the
oil in a six-quart system will be filtered to analytical purity in
about five minutes, at an average engine speed equivalent to 45 mph.
All dirt particles down to 1/10 of a micron are trapped, and the medium's thirsty cellulose fibers
can remove up to a pint of water.
The AMSOIL
Dual-Gard By-Pass System (BMK-12)
This system is used primarily on engines
with a sump capacity of 15 quarts or greater. These are usually your large
diesel engines.
The mount and filters can be installed
in any accessible area.
Remote placement of the filtration unit allows larger by-pass
oil filters to be used which increases sump capacity - dramatically extending
the oil's useful service life and protecting your wise investment in AMSOIL
Synthetic Motor Oil.
You tap into a pressure port on your engine for the oil supply.
The filtered oil will be returned to a tapped fitting in your oil pan, a
non-pressure port on the engine, dip stick tube fitting, etc.
By using oil analysis, the typical replacement interval for the
AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filters is 30,000 to 35,000 miles. Every situation is
different, so you must establish your own replacement interval.
You must still use your full flow filter changed at established
maintenance intervals.
Once your
AMSOIL Dual-Gard By-Pass Filter System is installed,
you could quite possibly go 100,000 miles or more on
one oil change using oil analysis.
Oil analysis testing is common practice with commercial, fleets
and heavy-diesel equipment.

change using the AMSOIL Dual-Gard By-Pass system.
